Based in New York, the immigrant artist team Lily & Honglei creates multimedia artworks utilizing traditional painting and new media such as digital animation, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. Intertwining current social issues with cultural heritages, often including folk art, traditional operas, folk tales and mythology, their work reflects upon contemporary China in the context of a global age. Lily & Honglei’s works receive support from The Jerome Foundation, The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts via Creative Capital, New York Foundation for the Arts, NYC Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) Greater New York Arts Development Fund, New Radio and Performing Arts, Inc (Turbulence.org), Queens Arts Fund (QAF), Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning in New York, name a few. The awards they recently received include People’s Choice Award of Moving Paper Film Festival at Museum of Art & Design in New York, Creative Capital 2015 Awards for Moving Image & Visual Arts, NYFA Fellowship 2015 in Interdisciplinary Work.
